First level
You receive a binder containing a signed agreement; notes on completing the course; a list of compulsory samples and a selection of projects from which to make an own choice. In addition the binder contains information on Tunisian crochet, broomstick crochet, hairpin crochet, buttons and braids, filet and thread crochet. You are guided in how to produce a portfolio or alternative means of arranging your course work.
Four bi-monthly newsletters are sent to you once you have enrolled along with a reference book. These have been found to be very beneficial and a source of student exchange and therefore when the fourth newsletter is received, there is an option to continue taking them. A video of how to put the course material together is part of the package for overseas students and an optional purchase for British students.
A record of work, a very short area of study, and a question and answer paper complete the requirements for certification. It is never necessary to repeat the way the work has been recorded, or to do another area of study – as for these two items there is no minimum pass in Part I. However they must be submitted.
On obtaining the necessary high standard in all areas a certificate will be issued showing you have successfully completed Part I of the International Diploma in Crochet – "Basic Techniques".
