International Diploma in Crochet
The International Diploma in Crochet course is the highest existing of all crochet Diploma as of January 2006. It has many registered UK and overseas students. Despite the standard being very high, no-one is ever made to feel small. Instead if there are better ways of doing something, these will be suggested.

Diploma levels
What does each part cover?
First level
Part 1 encompasses the extensive and varied basic techniques in all aspects of crochet traditional and modern, including broomstick, hairpin, Tunisian, reading patterns, and being able to sort out minor crochet problems. A little experimentation, observation, and recording of results is required. Own designs are optional. Successful candidates reach a standard enabling them to teach providing they have the necessary teaching skills. No knowledge is required prior to starting the course as all techniques are covered.

Second level
Part II stresses the use of textures, shapes, mixing yarns, combinations of stitches etc, within an article. Also colour essentials, basic fashion and household design, writing commercial patterns in words and in symbols, sizing, advanced crochet techniques, experimentation of ideas, introduction to search/research, and a look at image. Anyone achieving this certificate is qualified to produce commercial patterns suitably graded in written or graphic form.
Third level
Part III emphasises free design, encourages exploration in the fields of colour, texture, mixing crochet with textiles and other forms of craft to produce collages, hangings, artforms, art-to-wear, haute couture, etc. Originality in all areas is an in-built feature of this part of the course.
The successful candidate receives either a certificate entitled:
"Certificate of Merit -Mixed Media" or having successfully undertaken all three parts - graduates with both the certificate and the:
"International Diploma in Crochet"
