Second Level

As with Part I you receive a binder containing a signed agreement; notes on completing the course; a list of compulsory samples and a selection of projects from which to choose the final practical articles with their written accompanying design notes. In addition the binder contains further more complex information on Tunisian crochet, broomstick crochet, hairpin crochet, surface crochet, motifs and Irish thread crochet, and on shaping. Guidance in how to write down your design in both British and American terminology is given, as well as writing patterns using signs and symbols. Sizing and choice of materials is covered in more depth. A book on the history of crochet is included.

Once again four bi-monthly newsletters included in the price of Part II will be sent to you. You are encouraged to send in a record of work for each submission. The area of study will be assessed and is usually an introduction to the in-depth study you plan to do in Part III. A practical examination paper will be done in your own time but the written question paper has to be completed under supervision. On requesting the examination papers, a fee (which is relatively small) should be included at the same time. For those wanting only to continue with the practical aspects of crochet and not study design and pattern writing, there is an optional scheme available (Scheme B).

On obtaining the necessary high standard in all areas a full certificate will be issued showing you have successfully completed Part II of the International Diploma in Crochet – “Expanding Crochet Skills”, or should you fruitfully complete scheme B a letter of achievement to that effect will be issued.
